Updates…

June 27th, 2006 by yayaba

I’ve finally updated my personal blog after such a long time. Feel free to check it out :)

Hopefully, I’ll be able to update my blogs now as regularly as possible (except for my scrap blog which I miss already)!

Ta ra!

Hello

June 5th, 2006 by yayaba

For quite some time I thought I won’t be able to write anything out here anymore. Life has been tough for me the past couple of weeks but now, here I am, with some time in my hands.

I’m now in the United Kingdom, enjoying the summery feel of spring. It was cold and damp when I got here but after a couple of days, the sun came out as if telling me that it’s the start of a new beginning for me. I’d like to take it as a good sign though.

I haven’t been around Swansea that much yet but hopefully I’ll get to have that chance soon. For now, I have to give up on scrapping and my blogs are not at all updated. I’ve written about so many things in my journal yet there’s so little time for me to blog about it and share with you. But I’m getting there so no need to worry.

I don’t usually post photos of myself here on Friendster but upon the fervent request of my best friend, I decided to give it a go. And as a note for her, I know you have been telling me to post the photos so I chose some of those I really like out of the more than a hundred photos I’ve taken. You just can’t believe how much I love you! Imagine, having posted my pics in here?? LOL! You surely have that magic touch in me, dahlin’!  I miss you and I love you and I’ll see you soon!

To all my friends, have fun viewing the pictures. Just don’t be too harsh on those criticisms okay?

Ta!

just an update

March 6th, 2006 by yayaba

It’s been a while since I last posted and checked my Friendster account. I’ve been really busy with real life stuff and of course my digiscrapping hobby. So many things have happened and I hope you’ll find the time to check out my scrap blog and my other personal blog when you have the time.

I noticed that Friendster’s now faster and there are just minor glitches happening compared to the last time I visited this site, especially with regard to their photo uploading feature. Well, at least it’s an improvement.

As I checked the profiles of some friends, I just noticed that there are a lot of them who have "IT’S COMPLICATED" on their relationship status. Just when I was thinking of using that, lo and behold, I saw a lot of my friends’ profiles with the same caption. LOL! I guess the world is getting crazier by the minute without me noticing it because I’m very much secluded and secure in the comfort of my workstation. This just reminds me that it’s time for me to get my life back outside my computer and reconnect with friends. I must be missing a lot these days! But I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. I just enjoy scrapping too much…for now.

I won’t make promises this time but I just hope I can update this blog every once in a while especially when I do get the chance to check on Friendster.

I’ll see you then!

happy new year!

January 2nd, 2006 by yayaba

It’s 2006 and the start of a new year and a new beginning for most of us. What does 2006 have for me? I really don’t know but to start it off, I’ve updated MommyBa’s Journey and my digiscrapping blog and hopefully you’ll get the time to read it. I’ve neglected those 2 for so long and I don’t intend to do that anymore this year.

I hope there will be more kits to scrap, more opportunities for publication, more time to organize and more creative juices to flow from my sometimes stagnant brain. LOL!

Happy New Year to all!

merry (?) christmas

December 25th, 2005 by yayaba

I just wanted to greet everyone a very Merry Christmas! Although I’m not very merry myself, I guess mine can be considered much better than not having Christmas at all.

I’ll do a recap of the year that was just before New Year. I just hope I will remember everything significant and otherwise.

Merry Christmas!!!

stealing is bad

December 18th, 2005 by yayaba

One of the worst days of my life came last night. I found out that my very precious XDA was stolen right at the comfort of my own room. My sister got it from my bag to play with it in the afternoon. We went malling that night and then got home at around 11pm. Upon reaching the mall, I knew that my phone wasn’t in my bag but dismissed the thought of losing it because when I checked and tried to call it, it was ringing. I asked my sister where she left my phone and said that it was just in the room.

I spent the whole night tossing and turning the room and the house around to find my phone but it was gone. I had to admit that fateful fact. I had my suspects and a very strong gut feel. If only words and thoughts could kill, then the person must have been dead at that instance. It was that bad - I was really raging inside but couldn’t blurt it out. I’m like that - and I HATE IT!

I had my SIM replaced and will be contacting the NTC for the barring of my phone. I just hope that reporting the matter to NTC would be really worth it.

What a way to start the Christmas week! I can’t do anything about the phone anymore except to cry about it and find a way to get a new PDA-phone for myself. Oh well :(

Karma will come to the person who stole my XDA!

a small white envelope

December 16th, 2005 by yayaba
It’s just a small, white envelope stuck among the
branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It
has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so. It all
began because my husband Mike hated Christmas—oh, not the true meaning of
Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it-overspending… the frantic running
around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder
for Grandma—the gifts given in desperation because you couldn’t think of
anything else.

Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to
bypass the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so forth. I reached for something
special just for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way. Our son Kevin,
who was 12 that year, was wrestling at the junior level at the school he
attended; and shortly before Christmas, there was a non-league match against a
team sponsored by an inner-city church, mostly black. These youngsters, dressed
in sneakers so ragged that shoestrings seemed to be the only thing holding them
together, resented a sharp contrast to our boys in their spiffy blue and gold
uniforms and sparkling new wrestling shoes. As the match began, I was alarmed to
see that the other team was wrestling without headgear, a kind of light helmet
designed to protect a wrestler’s ears. It was a luxury the ragtag team obviously
could not afford.

Well, we ended up walloping them. We took every
weight class. And as each of their boys got up from the mat, he swaggered around
in his tatters with false bravado, a kind of street pride that couldn’t
acknowledge defeat. Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, "I wish just
one of them could have won," he said. "They have a lot of potential, but losing
like this could take the heart right out of them." Mike loved kids-all kids-and
he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and lacrosse.
That’s when the idea for his present came.

That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods
store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear and shoes and sent them
anonymously to the inner-city church. On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on
the tree, the note inside telling Mike what I had done and that this was his
gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that year and in
succeeding years.

For each Christmas, I followed the tradition—one
year sending a group of mentally handicapped youngsters to a hockey game,
another year a check to a pair of elderly brothers whose home had burned to the
ground the week before Christmas, and on and on. The envelope became the
highlight of our Christmas. It was always the last thing opened on Christmas
morning and our children, ignoring their new toys, would stand with wide-eyed
anticipation as their dad lifted the envelope from the tree to reveal its
contents.

As the children grew, the toys gave way to more
practical presents, but the envelope never lost its allure. The story doesn’t
end there. You see, we lost Mike last year due to dreaded cancer. When Christmas
rolled around, I was still so wrapped in grief that I barely got the tree up.
But Christmas Eve found me placing an envelope on the tree, and in the morning,
it was joined by three more. Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others,
had placed an envelope on the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and
someday will expand even further with our grandchildren standing around the tree
with wide-eyed anticipation watching as their fathers take down the
envelope.

Mike’s spirit, like the Christmas spirit, will
always be with us. May we all remember Christ, who is the reason for the season,
and the true Christmas spirit this year and always. God bless
